whats up guys. just wanna let all you people with the dreaded C1214 code and warning lights that have been putting off getting your EBCM rebuilt, to go for it !! Ive had this problem for almost a year. First it would come on and go off. Then became more frequent. Finally i could not clear the code at all, and was hating looking at the abs and traction control warning lights on my dash. Well i finally did it !!!!!!
I didnt remove anyhing to get to the ebcm. Tight and a pain in the *** but, an easy job....got it rebuilt and shipped back to me this morning. Now its in and working perfectly !!!!!!!!! well worth the effort to see the code and lights gone. So dont put it off anymore.. get in the garage and pull it off brothers....... now time for a few glasses of wine
Can you give more detail on the come on and go off bit. Mine has been acting up for about a year. It will sometimes go for weeks with no problem then start the on and off bit. When it first started, I could turn the key off and restart and that would clear the code and turn off the lights and warnings. Lately for example, I will get the code when first starting the car, drive 6 miles to town, do my thing and no codes or warnings on the trip back home. I saw a post on here a while ago that got a response to check the ignition switch for problems with the EBCM.

Who did your repair?
Mine did the same thing then one day it was there for good. I had mine repaired by ASAP speedo repair in AZ 480-464-2727
I think it is 59.00 with lifetime warranty
wbrands, im not saying its not your ignition switch, but the problems your having sound exactly like the one i had before getting the module rebuilt. You can also check the ground points on your VETTE. Might be the problem. With all Ive read i would say you need to pull off your ebcm and get it fixed. Im so happy that im not seeing a trouble code and illuminated warning lights on my dashboard anymore. I also sent mine to ASAP SPEEDO. Best $60 bux i ever spent

Thanks, I'll give them a try. Have a bookmark for their web site. From my research here I tend to agree with your assessment and $60 certainly won't break the bank.
lucky that yours can be fixed. i have the 97-00 version. out of luck fixing it.
It's above my pay grade, but; it's hard to imagine that someone, somewhere, hasn't figured out and engineered a fix for these things. There are so many (or will be as time passes) that do or will need this fixed.

Call ASAP Speedo last I heard they had 2 or 3 97-98 vettes on the road as test repair cars to make sure they had it figured out
