Took the C5 out yesterday, 2000 coupe 7,500 0n the clock power steering is noisy when turning the wheel, fluid is full, belt looks good no leaks, going to change the fluid, any ideas what this could be thanks.
Before you change the fluid and add another component into the equation I would recommend you get an auto stethoscope and have some one turn the wheel and see if the noise if coming from the pump or in the rack somewhere. They are cheap and can be found at most auto stores.
You can wet the area under the tires or use some kind of slippery material so you lessen any tire wear. Could also jack up the car so the tires are off the ground. Neither is really necessary but just an idea.
Thanks dadaroo, update, I checked the fluid and it was a brownish color
had never been replaced, so I used a baster to remove what I could an added new fluid stared it up and moved the wheel for a while seem to get better. got in and went for a ride seemed ok. then heard a noise from under the hood temp started rising pulled over to check it out, guess what power steering pulley broken where it bolts on serpentine belt off. just got back
and took it off the flatbed had it towed home, nice start to the day.

You could try just replacing the pulley and see what happens. If it were me, I would go with a new pump and pulley. Can't help you with anything with regard to non OEM ones. Unless you have some special racing application I would go with stock.
Make sure you get the updated C6 pulley that has cutouts to expose the alternator bracket mounting bolts to make it easier to r&r the bracket and pump if you need to in the future. Actually, the alternator bracket has a rep for failing so GM came out with a new, fortified casting for the later model C5. I have the updated pulley and alt bracket ready to go in during my current project to mitigate this in the future.
