We have a 2000 automatic. A few months(April/May) back the car was having trouble starting we replaced the battery and had no further troubles until last week when my wife went to start it and nothing. When you attempt to start it there is no turning over at all trying to happen. Things I have checked so far: security light shuts off, battery is good, all fuses both under hood and passenger side look good, terminals on the starter are reading 12 with the key on and starter relay seems to be working fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Could be the Park switch which sometimes causes this issue. Try to start it in Neutral.
You could also try to swap the Theft Deterrent relay with another one in case it is bad.
Also could be the starter solenoid or starter is bad. Why do you say the solenoid is good?
If none of the above helps we may need to look/diagnosis the electrical ignition switch which is a common problem. The fact that the security light goes OFF only means the BCM can read the key resistance from the mechanical ignition key cylinder which is different.
Have someone hold the key to the start position while you rap on the starter with something.
Failure of the starter solenoid is a common issue on the C5 starters and has the symptoms you describe..
I just tried and same result. I forgot to mention I ran through the codes and there was none that did not have the "H" following. Should I take the starter and solenoid out to have it tested or just replace it?

I've tried starting it Neutral and no difference. I didn't say the solenoid was good but the relay under the dash on the passenger side.
Post ALL your codes. Including the ones that have an H after them.
Codes that have an H are SIGNIFICANT in trying to diagnose problems. Most sensors will ONLY show C after a code with the engine running and a failure occurring. That's because mosT sensors are functioning ONLY when the engine runs. When the ignition is turned to OFF, C codes change to H. There are a few exceptions such as the Column Lock.
The battery is checking out fine with the key in the start position. Here are the codes that appear:
The two BCM codes are Column Lock related. However they should NOT prevent the car from being started.
The LDCM and RDCM codes are indicative of a battery related issue. All your codes may be left over from earlier incidents.
Suggest you clear all codes and then try to start the car again. Assuming the car does NOT start , pull the codes again and post any that have returned. Also post back if NONE return.
I did as you instructed and the car still won't start. There is now no codes listed as none returned.
Do the bang on the starter trick.
If you can see it from above, use some sort of long dowel, an old broom handle works. Rap the end of the stick with a hammer.
I have headers on mine, so I can see the starter. Not sure with stock manifolds.
This worked for me. I bought a new Bosch starter with solenoid. But, mine has worked ever since. That was a year ago. So I put that starter on my LS swapped Nova.
If you didn't tap on the starter yet, do it. The car might start or hear some noise from the starter. If nothing happens. Get a test light. Verify it works. Clamp the alligator clip to the starter s terminal. Hold the probe on battery negative post and have someone try to start it. If the light lights, replace the starter. If not see above posts to locate the open circuit upstream.
