MeanGreen 200 and Mag Red Monster both installed line locks recently and posted excellent reports of their installations as they progressed through their projects. For anyone doing a line lock, these are must-read posts. Do a search on line lock and read the archived posts.
Hopefully, they will pipe in and offer some advice.
Please do not take this in the wrong way BUT... Some of your questions are a bit basic, meaning if you have to ask I would maybe hire a professional to do this for you.
Brakes are a a very important part of your vehicle operation (sarcastic voice :D) I would hate to see them fail on you.
Someone told me once that some things are better left to a professional (something like that :))
In any event, good luck... And please do not take this as a flame or miss-gesture. I just would hate to see something happen to a fellow Vetter!

Noel does make some good points, but if you can turn a wrench and follow instructions, you should be ok. I had to ask a lot of the same questions and get my knowledge level up a little but all in all, it's not that hard of an install :D
Lemme start by digging up my old threads so you have some reading on the subject, then I'll see if I can answer some of those questions.
If you do have a friend that's at least bled the brakes before, invite 'em over, every little bit helps :D

I totally agree with his points. I would consider myself a weekend wrench turner :D I guess that I am just a bit too **** about somethings. I like to know exactly what I am getting into before I get started. No point in driving in and finding out the pool is empty

I already have an unknowing volunteer ready for that part :D
the line I've indicated with the arrow is the one you'll remove to splice in the line lock :)....the line runs between the proportioning valve and the ABS unit :)
3) I have the install kit which includes the extra brake lines. What would be a good method to flair the end after it has been cut for proper length?
if this kit includes stainless steel lines, you're gonna need a real good vice and a special flaring tool, that will do "bubble" or "button" or "double" flairs. I suggest finding a local "Hose Supply Shop" in town and talk to them. Once again, MagRed and I both did the same. Matter of fact, I had them fabricate me my whole setup :D
4) I assume that the brakes will need to be bleed afterwards right? If so, how hard is it to do?
I would suggest installing "speed bleeders" These replace the normal bleed screw with one that essentially contains a "check valve." This allows for 1-person brake bleeding. Otherwise it will take 2 people. One person to mash the brake pedeal, while the 2nd cracks open the bleed screw then closes it. This must be repeated over and over till clear.
With the speed bleeders, you can crack open the bleeder, the you can pump the brakes without closing the valve :D.....rubber hose attached to one end of the valve and the other leading into a mason jar :)
Start with the right rear, then left rear, then right front, then left front. Take real care here, I still think mine feel a little mushy.
Mean Green 2000, thank you very much. All the info you have give is very usefull. I think that the install will not be nearly as bad as I thought it might. Once again, thanks :)
