Did you stay with the stock converter? I was going to change only the TC,
but I do not want any problems with the dealer if I have tranny trouble.
I think I might go with the gears now and the TC later, at that time I can
buy a ( Warranty gold ) plan to cover everthing and not worry about GM.
I've been following these threads concerning TC and gears, and it has gotten a little confusing.
I know the thread is focusing on the 3.15 vs 3.42, but how about the 3.73?
With a TC, transgo shift kit, PCM edit...... how much more performance are we talking? The price difference between the 3.42 and 3.73 is steep (double). Is it really worth the expense? And if so, why???
The cost would be a factor. I had a 68 camaro that came with 273 or something like that gears. It had a T350 (3speed tranny) I put 373 posi rear in it and it was like night and day, but I only got about 9 or 10 miles to the gallon. But like I said it was a 3speed auto not 4. At the time I wished that I had found some 340's or 350's range gears. It was hard to get a good bite off of the line (of course I had crappy G60 tires). :U
