Default Another NT05 question

My rears are worn out and it's time for a new set. They haven't been very useful at my power level now anyway. So I'm going to move to the NT05r's. Just in the rear.

So here's where I'm at. Currently I run the normal NT05's on OEM Magnesium wheels in sizes 255/40-17 and 285/35-18.

The OEM Mags as you know are 17x8.5 and 18x9.5, so I have pretty much maxed my possible size out. I have an opportunity to get a set of Z06 wheels (obviously 17x9.5 and 18x10.5) so while in the process I could upsize..

But I'm wondering if it's necessary. I'm right around 600whp with the nitrous on. 430whp N/A. So my main question here is:

Would the car hook fine with the same 285/35-18 in the R type. Or would it be dumb not to go to a 315-30 or the like.

In my experience, the compound is much more important than width. However both is obviously a good thing. I'm just a little strapped right now and don't know if I really want to do a new set of wheels and tires. But at the same time, I can't afford to put two on my existing rims and be disappointed. Wasted money isn't saved money.

Thoughts?

Well I'm at about the same power level S/C & H/C with A/T with a stall also and 3.42. What I did was put 275/40/17 NT05's on the front and a set of 305/35/18 555 R2's on the back on 10.5 and 9.5 wheels on frt. The combo has worked out quite well for street use.

I have a Weld drag pack with MT ET Drags. So I can hook when I really need to. But I need a little more traction for my street wheels. I'm thinking I'll be fine if I just get the rears for the size I have now. The NT05 is a good drag tire from what I've seen. I'll like to go wider. But I think they will hook for my power level.

Surprised not to get more input on this though.

If you spray on the street the larger tires would be safer.

A taller tire will also soften the hit. Th -R sidwalls are softer as well
I have a set but they are a bit tall for daily use

I run 305/35/19 nt05r's on the rear of mine all the time... I don't drive it much but I'm not a fan of swapping out wheels and tires, I'm just gonna drive it as its set up... those are 27.4" tall and I've had no problems, great tire imo
