Default engine wiring harness

How hard is this thing to remove? Car is showing a bad random miss, EBCM is out, other crap. I suspect I have a cracked/shorted wire somewhere, and am thinking I should just pull the harness and go through it wire by wire (hey I have time right).

How bad is this going to be? I know the checking is going to be a pain, but the actual R and R for the harness. I'd plop a new on in, but don't want to spend $2100 on it.

I wouldn't do that. There are ways to isolate and repair the problem. What cylinder is missing and under what conditions?

Random misfire. Goes from a slight miss at idle with the occasional back fire w/fuel smell, to completely flat and no power above 4000rpm. I'm not asking about if this is the best course of action, I want to know how bad it is going to be to remove and replace.

do you know what cylinder has the miss?... I'd check the driver side coil/injector harness where it runs behind the intake... there is a bracket back there and the harness likes to rub on it and it will chafe and expose those wires... I left that bracket off the first time I removed the intake... but if you insist on removing the whole harness I don't think it's going to be very fun at all

If it were me I would not remove it but determine what potential wires could be the culprit. Then I would remove the affected fuse box connectors and the connectors at the other end and do a continuity check with someone wiggling the wires. This should rule in or out the harness as being the issue.

At the engine fuse box the connectors (from the stud that feeds power to the box) are C1 (closest one), C2, and then C3. Some of the service manual info shows C3 in the center which may be wrong for your year. Just finished figuring out that also applies to the I/P fuse box. I have at least confirmed that for sure for 2004. I had to compare the connector pin outs to what fuses and relays were above them. I can do that for your year also if needed. I think I did the check of that for 2001 also but I know I did for 2004.
