I have an 01 Z06, and I'm considering a lift for routine maintenance. But I've read on the forum and seen videos of raising the rear higher in order to get all the oil out of the car.
For you all with lifts, how are you doing this? Thoughts?
I assume you're considering a 4-poster. Even though I have leveled my lift pretty close to horizontal, there is still a slight slope toward the front of the garage. I generally back onto the lift for max clearance so the car faces towards the slight downward slope and it naturally drains properly. If needed, I use the jacking bridge to raise the rear as much as needed so, either way, no big deal.
Problem with a lift is, you start out changing oil, and get carried away . . .
IMHO get a 2 post lift and do not worry about the little oil that may not drain out
I have a direct lift HR 8000 (easy to find on the net) It will lift every thing from my c4 to a 1/2 ton truck with ease. It is rated at 8K but I think it built much stronger than that.
Nothing wrong with a 4 post just not my cup of tea.
Best of luck
My 4-poster is primarily for extra parking although I use it for major projects and it works perfectly. Oh, and, my BendPak is rated at 9000 lb. and has double-lock safety built in with pneumatic release. Plus, I have mine bolted down. My lift is under a 10-ft. ceiling and is 10 feet wide.
The additional requirements for a two poster are:
1) Higher-strength concrete required since you must bolt it down
2) Usually needs a taller ceiling than a 4-post lift for column clearance
3) Needs more installation width due to the clearance for the lift arms
4) Usually is a dedicated space since it's not meant to store an elevated car long term
A 2-poster would not fit in my garage unless it's one of those portables like a MaxJax.
