Experience with close ratio 4L60E
BTW, I'm running a moderate cam, (226-230/ 595 lift), Stage 3 5.3 liter heads, long tube headers and Callaway Honker intake and DD exhaust. After tuning, I'm at 410/405 hp-torque. My hope is that the gear change will make my launches more productive.
My install happens in early December. I will be changing out a 3200 Fuddle stall, which was the purpose for the project to begin with.
Thanks in advance for your time.

I suppose different planetaries could be available.
Btw, with a good torque converter, the rpm drop isn't as bad as you might think. The converter will cover it up.
My data logs show nearly the same drop from 1-2 and 2-3.

With regard to the torque converter and the shift extensiion, I'm on board with that. One of the primary drivers of this project was to replace a dated Fuddle torque converter. It is working fine, but I've always had the yipes about how durable it would be over a few months of hard autocrossing. Conversations with the folks at Yank, Precision, and RPM indicated there was significant gains to be made in that area, and the rest of the project grew from there.
With the idea of gaining traction, it became evident to me that I needed to strengthen the remainder of the drive line. Right now, whats keeping me safe is the fact the tires are going up in smoke. Without making some changes, I suspect I would begin to break things as I gain traction. So instead of making incremental changes, I bit the bullet and am going through everything from the torque tube back.
TT prob would benefit from a good quality rebuild. I need to do mine. I got the parts from RPM, but haven't dug into it yet....its a big job!
I did rebuild the 3.42 diff with upgraded clutches, and hardened shafts from DTC. I didn't want it breaking either!
And yes, I should have looked inside the TT when I had it out. That was a mistake.

Fun project, enjoy.
