I have a 99 w/ only 13.000 miles on it and i could write a book on my steering problem,, I have had it to the dealer 4 times and they still cant figure it out,,, When i bought the car the and drove it on a trip of 1.000 miles i noticed the vec.service soon came on , by pushing reset it would go off until i had to restart car it would come on again,,, but the car drove and steered perfect,,, after i took the car into the dealer all my troubles started, with me feeling the wheel had a hard time turning back,,, so back i go ,,,, dealer said to me let me send it to my other Chevy dealer to have a Tech who only worked on Vettes,, so i waited a few mor days ,,, i called the tech to talk to him to see if he had found anything ,,, to my surprise he said the car felt normal in steering,,,, Well i cant tell you what i wanted to say ,,, Well i went to pick up the car at the orignal dealer and went to owner and said i could not believe that 4 ( four) techs cant find the problem,,, so he said to me that he would pay another dealer if they could find the promblem,,, any body Know a good dealer in CT or NY or anybody can tell me if magnasteer is gone,, or the steering wheel position sensor,, or What HELP???HELP?? Forgot to metion that the car went back 4 times for the same problem,,, also was told by fist thech that he changed steering position sensor also i have had 2 Vettes before a 90 and a 96

Has anyone been into the steering column,such as performing the column lock recall while you had it in?

 

If there is anything electrically wrong with magnasteer, it defaults to the " most assist " mode....so if
that is the problem, it would be easier , not harder to steer.
I would suspect something mechanical, maybe a tight bearing in the column?

No getting around it........sometimes you just need the dealer.
