Step by Step directions on this site. Ijust had wonderful experience replacing the hazard switch. Got some great help on this forum, managed to get it replaced and everything is working fine. Except dash had been taken apart 2 other times and was in total shock seeing broken parts put back together with black tar type stuff, and also silicone. Had paid well over $400 and $500 for repairs under dash and now see how they broke tabs, wires mess, torx screws missing. Dash looks little harder but I would say took me only 30 minutes to get console and under driver part apart. lots of yuck and dirt underneath to clean I have 99. http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...zel_howto.html
Some say you can get away with just loosening the dash pad and lifting it out of the way so you can access and remove the cluster. I have had my entire dash apart a few times so I can get to the point of removing the cluster in about 15 to 20 minutes.
I don't think it's really that hard of a job to do.
If memory serves me correctly the order is:
Center Console Bezel , Knee Bolster, A Piller molding then Dash Pad.
The Vette Essentials directions are spot on...however, if you have an automatic transmission, there is a special trick (buried in the VE directions) that you must follow.
Before unplugging the driver's seat electronics, be sure the driver's seat is all the way back, the steering column is all the way down and the steering wheel is all the way out. If you don't do these things, you will have clearance problems between the steering wheel and top of the dash that will make removing the cluster a time-consuming, contortionist beeaatch.
