Default Plugs and Wires

Can anyone tell me what is a good set of plugs/wires for the C5?? I have found many posts about this from 2010/2011 time frame. I have looked and looked for the NGK TR55 or the a/c delco iridium plugs and also the GM red wires. I think those plugs aren't sold any more. It looks like a lot of the plugs are now platinum or nickle. Can someone tell me some good plugs along with part numbers and where they were purchased? And the same with wires?
I'm just running a stock 1999 C5. No real mods have been done.

I've read that a lot of people here like the GM red wires. They seem like a good value, and that's probably what I will use when I get to it.

Perhaps you are using an incorrect model number.

A lot of people know how to make spark plug wires, unless you get a counterfeit part, I don't think you need to worry about the brand . I bought my GM stuff from a sponsor here.

I went with the Iridium plugs and red wires, perfect fitment and results, but then you are not buying a question mark with a factory part. MY only advice is to follow GM specs and only purchase iridium tips, because they have a 100 000 mile service interval. Unless you have an unusual fondness for changing plugs, as some here do.

I would prefer to go with Iridium... but as far as the AC-Delco and the NGK, they offer more in terms of Platinum and Nickel. I can't seemt to find the exact model name as seen pack in 2011. That's why I'm asking for specific part numbers if anyone has them... That way I don't have to worry about looking for "NGK TR55" and either finding the NGK TR5IV or whatever. I just can't find the NGK's or AD Delco's at all in my local part stores. They offer newer versions I guess....

I was under the impression that the plug was a Iridium 41-110 but I came across this Bulletin, Subject: ACDelco Spark Plugs 41-110 and 41-962 - Application Update

I am using Taylor 84044 wires and Delco 41-962 platinum, it had originally factory wires with NGK plugs, the car runs nice with Taylor and Delco.

SG lou, I stand corrected. I unknowingly had obsolete information , you have the good stuff.

I do think the plug is not critical, the spark system is strong. I was attracted to the improved service interval, the only advantage I could find .

In reading the update, competitive pricing in the aftermarket was mentioned. My tendency is to cling to the old ways, if no better advantages come to light, since both models still hit requirements. However, as a caring steward of the car, only my best facts, not my desires , will actually get into play. Plus a whole bunch of mistakes.

AC Delco 41-110 (GM 12621258) Iridium plugs (gapped at .040 not .060)

GM 12495519 (Red Chevrolet Performance plug wire set)

Shop around prices vary widely.

Personally I use Autolite XP5245 Iridium plugs (excellent rebates available as well) and Magnecor KV85 plug wires.

I posed this same question to C4/C5/C6 Specialist Paul Koerner and his reply to me was this: " The story is ACDelco is wrong from a technical aspect.

They are doing it for pricing so that they will sell more plugs at a cheaper cost.

41.110 is the ONLY plug I put in any LS1 LS6 LS2 LS3, applications for LS7 and LS9 are different.

All the best, Paul "

Paul seems to know his stuff so I'll take his word for it !
