I'm looking for new tires for my 2001 Coupe and am considering the non-EMT version of the Goodyear Eagle GS as they cost about half as much as the EMT versions and presumably don't have some of the negative characteristics of the EMT's. I've heard that there may be issues with the pressure sensors not being able to communicate with the car using these tires (due to an unusually large amount of steel in these tires?) Anybody know anything about this? Has anyone used these tires? Problems?

You're probably thinking of the F1 Steel, which has been discontinued...and there were reports of LTPWS problems with that tire, but they were mostly with C4s.
The F1 GS has no more steel in it than the F1 GS EMT. The major difference is the casing is, obviously, different because it lacks the features that stiffen the sidewall to make an EMT.
