Noticed bubbling in overflow tank. Temp is normal, thoughts?
Hi guys,
I was running the Corvette today as it's been sitting in my garage for the past month when I noticed something strange. After the car had been fully warmed up, I popped the hood to take a look at the state of the engine and I noticed that my coolant was about 1cm below the full cold line and I could see bubbling coming from the bottom of the tank. The heater was on in the car, and I got under the car but saw no noticable coolant leaks. I let the engine continue to run for another 5-10 minutes and saw no spike in temperature. The car is not blowing any white smoke and I couldn't smell coolant coming from the exhaust. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Quick update, I added coolant to the tank and after a few cycles the bubbles stopped coming up. The temperature capped off where it should and all seems well. I'm going to keep an eye out for coolant leaking out of the system. Do you guys think a compression test is necessary in case a head gasket is leaking?
