Default Traction control/active handling shut off

I have a 2003 Vert which is garaged with a battery tender on the battery. I live in CT so I only take the car out in the fall & winter when the weather is nice --- like today.

Took the car out for a 20 mile spin.
After about 10 miles I got a traction control warning (shut off) on the DIC and a dash light came on to indicate the traction control was off.
I pulled the codes when I got home and here's what I got
28 TCS C1291 HC
A6-SCM B2860 H

I noticed that I had no rear stop lights and found fuse #8 was blown.
I replaced this fuse, cleared these codes and now I have stoplights.

But two weeks ago, when I took the car out for a 20 mile spin, the same thing happened --- I didn't pull the codes, but I had the same traction control issue and I had no stoplights and had to replace the burnt out fuse #8.

Any Ideas?

I also notice that I am getting some rattling in the dash when I hit a bump which I never had before. Could this be related?

Any help would be appreciated. It's always troubling when fuses start to burn out.

Thanks in advance for your ideas and help

It will disable the TCS causing the TC message/light you are getting.

Find the cause of the blowing brake light fuse and your TCS issue will go away with it. Likely a wire that is shorting out and blowing fuse #8 in the passenger footwell fuse box. With the body mods on your car I cannot begin to tell you where to start looking.

B2860 is a memory issue with the telescoping column and is unlikely to be related to the brakelight fuse issue.
Yea, that was my fear. An electrical short, the worst type of problem.
I will talk to the people who did the conversion for me, but supposedly, none of the electronics were touched --- except the lights at the end of the circuit in the rear. I guess that's the place to start --- those lights and the wires and connections there. I'll have to check if the tail lights go out too when this issue arises. I rarely drive the car at night, but I will check this the next time the fuse blows. I'll take a quick look this weekend, but due to weather, this is likely to be a springtime project which, unfortunately, may have no solution. BUMMER !!!

Thanks for your input
