Default Outside Air Temp Sensor bad ?

Search didn't provide anything useful so here goes.

Driving home from work at 4:45 am on Friday morning I noticed the outside temp reading was showing 22 degrees....yet I have the news on and the guy say's it 27 degrees out. I also remember seeing the outside temp gauge in my office at work reading 27. So has my outside air temp sensor on the way out ? BTW: No codes, I checked

it's an 04 base coupe, Duel Zone Electric Climate Control

Think that's what mine read when it went bad this spring. At least you're not needing the air or are you? I bought my new sensor at O'Reillys, didn't cost much. Lower passenger side of the radiator.

Oh by the way, it takes a bit for the new sensor to up date the dic. I think I had to drive a couple miles before it worked right.

Interesting...Surprising what you can learn fro the Owners Manual...maybe my Ambient Air Sensor ( proper nomenclature ) isn't bad.

Taken from 04 Owners Manual

Outside Air Temperature Sensor
This sensor is located in the air intake under the front bumper of the vehicle. Information from this sensor is used for the outside air temperature readings shown on the digital display for the automatic climate control system.

If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed temperature will not change until:

•The vehicle's speed is above 20 mph (32 km/h) for one and a half minutes.
•The vehicle's speed is above 45 mph (72 km/h) for one minute.
These delays help prevent false reading. If the temperature goes down, the outside temperature display is updated immediately.

If your vehicle has been turned off for more than three hours, the current outside temperature will be shown when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled from the previous vehicle operation.
