Working on a neglected 98 C5. Can someone tell me if the vacuum line from the motor goes to the top or bottom fitting on the vacuum cannister check valve?

here is a great diagram of what you are looking for. It goes to the bottom of the check valve.

Thanks for the reply! That helps a ton. I wonder what the other check valve and line goes to?
Oooops! I had scrolled down to see the bottom and now I see it is clearly identified. However My shop manual doesn't show that line. Do the all have them? When I got the car the check valve/valves was missing.

Here's a picture of just the OE system, without any aftermarket items added.
Vacuum line #13 comes from the engine, and take special note that vacuum line #5, runs either to item #15 OR item #40, depending on which HVAC system (automatic or manual) is installed on the vehicle. Regardless, it runs inside the car to provide vacuum to the control head in the dash.
