P0442 Code cannot trace problem

I have a problem with my '02 C5 that I'm searching for advise. The check engine light with a code P0442 indicating a vacuum leak keeps coming on after reset. It has been in the shop for three weeks with the mechanic changing virtually everything along the path. The 02 sensors, gas cap, you name it, everything has been replaced with new. His diagnostic computer indicates a small leak but it cannot be located. I appreciate the mechanics efforts and his ability, plus he is a family friend but at this point I'm getting desperate. Does anyone know how to resolve this type of problem?

At my shop, we use a smoke machine to locate evap system leaks. Most likely the evap vent valve is leaking.

Just had to change the evap vent solenoid on my wife's Grand Prix, side was split. Started out as P0442's then progressed to P0449 (I think). Was obvious when I removed the old one.
