I have an 97 vette and I hear everyone talking about these bushings in the torque tube that go bad or need to be replaced. My question is what kind of issue/concern would i notice if they were going bad on my car? I do have a vibration that doesn't feel consistent to a tire vibration at higher speeds it will kind of come and go while maintaining the same speed... 80-85mph range. Usually when i have had tires out of balance the vibration would be consistent at a certain speed. Or am I over thinking this problem?
If you have a manual trans at 85 mph Push the clutch in and put the trans in nuetral. There shouldn't be anything driving the torque tube then. Check to see if the vibration has remained or changed.
With an auto I'd still put it in nuetral at 85 mph and let eng idle, see if the vibration remains consistant.

For mine - I could feel it in the auto shifter when it shifted - I knew something was wrong - I also had 120K miles on it. Underneath on both ends of the torque tube they have inspection areas - you pop off the rubber piece and you can see inside - pop the back up on Rhino Ramps and I'm sure you can sneak your phone in there to take a pic of the Rubber Coupling - Mine had lots of cracks - very easy to see.,,.
