Default grrr .. interior lights won't shut off

I suspect some water infiltrated somewhere last night. I had to open my door when it pouring down rain, closed door, and the rearview mirror and foot well lights didn't cut off.

So I get home and pop the door panel off. I found 3 plugs near the latch mechanism. I popped them all out and blasted them off with compressed air then put a circuit tester on each. The top 2 seemed normal, but the bottom one had continuity between the 2 leads even after I pulled them completely out of the plug. That's not right is it? I suspect this is where my problem is, and I need to trace those wires and figure out where they're shorting. Confirm/Deny?

Edit: Forgot to mention ... I also opened up the fuse box and yanked out a hot relay (42 I think) to kill the lights for now. I did also test the relay, and it opens and closes properly.

I think I would inspect the door open switch first.....try to jumper it and see if the interior lights go off. Good luck

Door ajar switch is working. I can unplug it, and the message goes away on the DIC (open circuit = closed door). I think the lights operate on a different switch also attached to the latch.

Did you check to see if your dash dimmer is rotated all the way turning on the interior lights? Sometimes you can accidentally rotate it when wiping or even a knee.

If the op doesn't answer we know that's the problem

Yeah, that was the first thing I checked. I killed a battery in my first year of ownership of this car with that damned ****, so I don't make that mistake anymore.

What I'm really looking for is confirmation that I should NOT be seeing continuity across the pins of any of those wiring pig tails attached to the latch assembly.

For the driver side there are two switches.

Door Ajar Switch is closed when the door is open. Wires are Black and Gray/Black

Key Switch is closed in the unlock position. Wires are Black/White and Light Green.

I had an issue one night with the foot well lights stayed on. Disconnected the battery and the next morning I realized I had not closed the trunk completely.

Well I guess whatever got wet in the door dried out because I plugged the relay back in last night, and everything was back to normal. Now I'm thinking I should rig up some sort of weather shield for the door control module.

Check the wiring and connector in the A-pillar feeding the door to make sure all is good there also.

Glad Murphy left for the moment. I wonder who he went to visit.
