Re: A4 gear swappers, need your help! (ToplessTexan)
I installed the gears, but did no programming. As well, I do not have the data collection software.
I think your "lack" of participation is more from a lot fewer people have the software to collect the data you want than their lack of interest in contributing.

:yesnod:
I would love to help as well, but haven't insalled the gears yet due to re-thinking my converter and programming choices
I was thinking it didn't see enough traffic in the Scan & Tune section, not so much that nobody was equipped to help. There are actually one or two here that own a scantool I think. But thanks for the input though!

Brother Kurt - I am scanless so I can't help out. I am also a Republican and so, would LIKE to help out. :yesnod: I MAY be going to taller gears in the near future. If I do, I'll tell Mike at MMS that he has my permission to share any non-proprietary info with you if that would help out.
Do you remember not so long ago when you, I, and several others were pleading with the forum gods to bestow a drag racing forum for us straight-liners? Dang, haven't we come a LONG way in here since March?! :yesnod:
Think it would be too much to ask for a sub-section on bracket racing?
Brother Gary
P.S. Notice how we are catching up to the die-cast and collectibles? :D

No sweat Brother Gary. My problem is already solved, so it's not like I'm suffering mightily or anything. ;) I was just offering to do something I hoped would be useful. :blueangel: If the data doesn't show up, then it just wasn't a very good idea. Wouldn't be the first useless idea I've had.

Same here.
And as a independant (that is labeled a Republican by most that know me); I don't want to spend my money on a tuning program that is more a "guessing game" when it comes to common mods like the ones you are describing.
Especially the one feature needed most, "gear scaling" that is still not a proven feature of the program for C5's. Yes; I've read where v1.06 has this bug-a-boo addressed; but like all software... I know to wait for reports from the end users that it is indeed working without any unforseen problems before I can count on it working.
Lets see when LS1Edit gets out of its beta stage (my observation), and maybe I can give you some data then.
Re: A4 gear swappers, need your help! (ToplessTexan)
I remember even after the car was programmed by Steve Cole at the time it still required a Tech II scan at the dealer to "fix" the problem of calibration and the OSS(output shaft sensor). It was a nightmare at the time. The data on my car showed that it was'nt in fact a electronic problem but a mechanical issue. Installed a Transgo and it all went away..Hope things work out for you..:D
Hmmmm... Maybe I need to clarify. The goal is to collect and make publicly available some quantitative data that folks in the market for programming might find informative prior to making a purchase. :) I've listed the specifc data items of interest in the other thread.
If you can help that'd be great! If you can't, that's okay too, no need to reply here though.
vstella, there is no "output shaft sensor" in the system, maybe you mean the VSS?
