Default New Vararam comments

I received my new filter yesterday and though I have not been able to dyno it yet, that will happen next week, I can feel the difference. I will be really surprised if I don't have a 10 RWTQ gain. It pulls harder now. Way to go Patrick.

What filter did you switch from and what's the new one? I've got the foam filter...

Ditto what 'The DBK' said. What filter did you have and what did you switch to? I've currently got the foam 'race' filter in my setup... Is there a newer one?

The filter I first received was for a non-built motor. The one Patrick made is for a built motor. I don't know the details but it increases the amount of air and pressure. I will post the dyno results as soon as I get it done.
Cheers

That "race" filter looks kinda scary to me. It looks like it might let a little more than air through. If you hold it up to the sun, you can see an aweful lot of light.

I called them about the race filter. They said it flows more air than the K&N, but traps smaller particles.

I agree, it sure doesn't look like much.

In the cleaning instructions, there is a mention of re-oiling. It didn't come that way. What did you use?

They mention a JP-1 kit available at most motorcycle shops.

Weird - as my filter was "stuck" to the plastic - hence I thought it was oiled..

Humm - I will check on it tonight..

If not - I will go to the motorcycle shop tomorrow and buy some PJ1 or Bel Ray Filter Lubricant... This stuff is made for dirt bikes that ride through mud and the worst of dust clouds - so I think it will do a good job on the streets..

As far as the race filter, he said it has a light glaze. Coated and allowed to sit before shipping out. It can be used as is, recheck in 2K miles.

No problem. I am going over today and if we have time, I will do it tonight. I need to bleed my clutch and brakes from the session at the track.
