Hey Rich care to weigh in on the current VaraRam vs. Vortex debate going on in the other thread? :D

Sure. :)
Not what this thread is about but what the hell...:)
They are both great intakes. One set of results don't sell VaraRams or Vortex's by themselves however. Guys I hear from everyday ask for much more evidence. It's a good start though. I also don't know what type of filter the man was running in the VaraRam...if it was the K&N, and not the RACE filter, then I've seen that it doesn't perform as well.
I have offered the V/R to MeanGreen for testing too, just to get another set of results. The gentleman Ernie posts for has many more differing mods than most guys and I didn't see any tuning mentioned with all those mods. I bet he'd do even better with tuning.
I have a Vortex on my car to this day. I will put the VaraRam on the next Z, so I don't have to cut the shroud this time. You'd be surprised how many guys I talk too that don't want to cut anything on the car.
I believe from what I have read on this forum, that they will both get you close to the same hp gain (cold air). Just different styles, and a price difference. I think either will make a noticeable difference in a C5's performance :yesnod:

Any updates on the water ingestion issue? I read on another thread that VR did a few "dives" through standing water and didn't have any locks. Is the VR comparable to the Vortex concerning water injestion? Or would one have to be more careful with the VR?
I realize this is slightly off-topic concerning your group purchase, but I know a few people who are holding back on the VR on this issue alone.
BTW, your price on this GP is amazing!!! Too bad I don't have my C5 yet...

If you don't feel comfortable with a cold air, or outside drawn in air system, then I'd suggest the Blackwing. Having said that, falling water is fine, just don't dive with it, no matter if anyone else did or not. No system, even stock, is 100% safe against lock.
RG I have a Blackwing now(bought from you) do you think there would be any difference or even worth it to change from the BW to the VR?
Gary,
Thank you for the first purchase.:)
I think that depends on what you mean by worth it. If the price is agreeable to you for your m.p.h. in the 1/4 mile going up, then, yes. If that's the measure of a faster car, then yes. With practice, e.t.'s will come down too. It seems we all want them quicker and faster for some reason.;)

They have done one installation that I know off.Yes they have on-line capability.Just want to see how much for install. That will be pretty much the deciding factor. Thanks again :D I will let you know Monday
I saw my first VaraRam last night. Very sharp and professional looking package.
But, I'm staying with the Vortex, since I think that it is the best across the board (and for the$$$), and the price difference may not be worth the change for a few elusive HP that no one here will EVER really be able to document effectively (IMHO).
If I had an uncut new car, I might seriously consider it though. It is that OEM looking.
