I just had the pass side rear wheel off my car and noticed the brake rotor was marked 'LR' and its on the right side of the car. I didnt take the other wheels off yet but all the fins on both sides are facing in the same direction - looking at 12 oclock on the rotor the fins are leaning towards the front of the car - I am assuming someone put the rotors on wrong a while ago. Unless GM is calling the pass side left now I think someone screwed up... It doesnt look like these rotors have been off in a long, long time and the car has new pads but it doesnt seem right :(
You're correct. The vanes should lean towards the back of the car. I have lots of pics fro my EradiSpeed swap and I just checked them. On both the stockers and the Baers, the cooling vanes lean towards the back.
Thanks guys, thats what I thought. I tried to get the one rear off but it didnt budge, probably needs a few good whacks with the BFH so for now I'll leave them since I will probably destroy them beating and heating them. I'll just pick up a set of fairly new take offs when I see them pop up for sale.
Seriously, I would assume this would slightly reduce the heat shedding ability of the rotors and somewhat increase the likelihood of fade.
I assume so as well, i have been driving the car pretty hard for a couple thousand miles and it seems to stop OK. Who knows how long the other owner was driving it for (I bought it used), it doesnt look like they have ever been replaced but who knows.

It means that heat is being pushed into the hub instead of being evacuated out. Not a real good idea!
I didnt say it was a good idea :)
I'll fix it when I find some rotors, its silly to try to save these, they are pretty well used and very rusted on :)
Sorry didn't mean to sound like an old hen. I'm just trying to think what else there isn't going to like the heat.. caliper boots come to mind.
Here is the part numbers and where I got my last set of OEM rotors.
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com
$64 delivered (each)
10445856 rotor front right
10445857 rotor front left
10445858 rotor rear right
10445859 rotor rear left
BTW the oem rotrs are awfully good unless you intend to spend a bunch of money...
No offense taken, like i said the car has been like this for a long time so I'll get around to fixing it eventually - its on the list of about 300 other things to fix :/
There was a set of delivery miles only rotors in the classified section that was for 75.00 plus shipping, hopefully I can pick those up. If not i'll find some. I'm in the middle of installing FLPs, corsa, LS6 intake, vortex and maybe the converter if it stays cool out. so my mind is on other stuff right now :)
