What inexpensive ways can I make my car faster. I want to get into the mid 13's but I don't have alot of money. Nitrous is inexpensive but the cost of repairs is not. I need help!!!!!!!! :D
What kind of 60 foot times are you posting? It sounds like ambient temperature, coolant temperature, and possibly even altitude (you're in CO) could be factors. I wouldn't be surprised if you could turn it several ticks faster in the fall.
I would have to find my time slips, I had no traction launching at 2500 rpm. I know I would benefit from getting some better tires. The track is close to 6000 ft. so I know the altitude is affecting my times. I have an extra set of 18's but I can't find a set of drag radials in 18 inch size.
practice....thats probably better then most mods you can get. if you cant get the launch down now...adding more power will just make it harder it seems.
just an observation from an inexperienced person  but it seems to make sense
I knew I would get this type attention when I posted this. Most people don't know that I am running a little over a second slower then sea level. I would be running right around 13.0's if I were to run at sea level. Most early Vipers (stock) are running 14.0's at Bandimere so I think I am doing alright. I just want to run a little quicker. :yesnod:
You are actually running pretty good for the altitude you are at. Sucks doesn't it? We are at around 5k here. Best mod would probably be a cam install. You will need some type of FI or N20 if you really want to get a good kick at your altitude though. Good luck.
As the other guys said, your times are pretty good considering the altitude. Get a Donaldson Blackwing air intake, and a set of BFG DRs they come in 17 inch. You can buy two 17 inch OEM wheels to mount them on, the DRs should help improve your 1/4 mile times.
Have to be able to put the down on the pavement. I have seen 14 sec. cars beat 12 sec. cars, because they lost traction. I agree with the other posts above practice launching technique. :yesnod:
Okie Dokie I found my times slips. This is my very first times racing on the track so it might not be all that impressive. R/T .987, 60' 2.386, 330 6.272, 1/8 9.3, mph 78.09, 1000 11.983, 1/4 14.19, mph 102 mph I know I need some practice with my launch but I also don't want to trash my clutch. I have the Donaldson, new air bridge, corsa daytona, and magnacore plug wires. Thank you guys for the replies. By the way I don't know what the geo's are running but there is a full size Dodge Deisel pulling a 12.7 everytime
If you all would have checked the NHRA altitude correction specs, you would have seen there is nothing wrong with this car. It's running great, as a matter of fact. A 14.2 @ 102 mph at 6000' is CORRECTED to 13.15 seconds at 110+ mph.
I ran my 2002 Coupe MN6 (stock except for a Blackwing) in Pueblo, CO last Friday night. The track there is at 4900'. My best run (with a tailwind) was a 14.299 @ 101.46. My other two runs were 14.6nn at 98.4n. My short times were 2.4 - 2.5. The runs were made on 295/35 Pilot Sports and I have not yet figured out the secret to get it to hook up...
untouchable, what do you mean by specs? I am planning on putting a 2001 intake manifold on my car and maybe a ported throttle body. I was told that the 2001 intake is the same as the LS6. Do you guys think that would put me in the 13's?
