Default Wheel / tire fitment

I recently purchased a 1997 vette. The man that owned the car purchased brand new factory size run flat tires. 245/45-17 and 275/40-18. He also gave me a new set of wheels. 17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear. I know the factory states that these wheels and tires can be mounted safely. What I am concerned about is what they will look like. It seems as though they are at the limit or realy close to the max rim width they can be mounted to.

Again, I am wondering how they would look and if I should run them.

17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear is the OEM size for the C5-Z06. They are nowhere near close to the max limit.....unless the offsets are way out of whack

The size of the wheels will look fine as the previous poster noted since they are the same size as the C5 Z06 OEM wheels. The tires on the other hand are small for the wheels and will look somewhat stretched. Some like the stretched look, but I personally am not a fan.

Well Let me clarify. The new tires being mounted to the new wheels. The specs for both the front and rear tires can safely be mounted to the wheels, however the rim width is on the outer limits of what the tire manufacturer recommends.

I wanted to know if anyone has done this and how it looks.

Although I have not done this, I have seen it several times. To me the tires seem stretched.

I think apples and oranges are being mixed. The C5 coupes/verts used 245/45-17 and 275/40-18 tires on 17x8.5 and 18x19.5 wheels. The C5 Z06 used 265/40-17 and 295/35-18 tires on 17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear wheels.

The C5 never came with 245/45-17 and 275/40-18 tires on 17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear wheels.

Tire Rack is showing 245/45-17 tires fitting a rim width range of 7"-9" (not 9.5"). Therefore, I wouldn't recommend that combination.
