I have owned my '99 coupe for about 7 or 8 months now and the EBCM went out about 6 months ago. Luck of the Irish I guess. Have been on most of the corvette sites and have received numerous replies, some helpful, some not so much. I do know that mine has the death code in it, so when it went, it went. (C1255C). The unit was pulled and they are: 5/TCS/MSVAAH, DELPHI 09356971. The car is equipped with, Active Handling, Traction Control, which are shown on the DIC every time I start the car as well as the ABS light. Since the car is 13 plus years old, I am curious as to whether or not the EBCM is perhaps already the second change out. If I am going to spend my kids inheritance on a replacement, I would like to be sure that the correct one is put back in. I believe the one in there now is the "M" version. If I can get the numbers translated, I would feel much more relaxed about it. Thanks to all, and honestly, the only advise I need at this point is the translation of the numbers. Thanks again, Vince
M is non active handling. V is with active handling.
Thanks for getting back to me with that information. Do you happen to know how the information on the EBCM currently in my car relate to either M or V? That is the question. I fear that this was a problem prior to my buying the car and just any EBCM was installed. If I am going to spend a bundle for a used one, I want to be sure to get the proper one. Thanks again.
Try the above link. It has info about a 2000 C5 that had active handling. The EBCM for mid 98 through 2000 with AH used the same EBCM. Note the large V on the part sticker. Indicates AH.
Model # and Part Number are listed in the thread.
I really appreciate your getting back on this. A couple of things. One, the post referred to in the link is from August of 2001, better than 12 years ago. Second, my EBCM was manufactured by Delphi, and the one in the post is for a Delco. Two completely and non interchangable units. I am inclined to agree that the V code is what I need, and with Delphi, the units only work with 1997, 98 and 99, not 2000. But, this still does not answer my question as to whether or not the numbers on my existing unit signifies an M or a V model. In any event, thanks for your reply. Vince
