I'd like a convertible, but I have a ton of $$ invested in my current C5's drive-train.
I'm wondering if I bought a convertible with around 100k miles on it for about $15-16k, how much time would it take to pull the drive-trains out from under both my current car and the convertible and swap them around. Is this just crazy talk is is this feasible?
Here is an example of a complete drive-trains removed from the body:
There was a guy on here that converted his coupe to a convertible. It's not that hard if you have a little imagination and a pretty good understanding of mechanical things.
I'd think a shop familiar with the platform could do a straight drivetrain swap within 2 days. Now, if you have other stuff like ductwork and an intercooler out front or custom fuel system that would add time to swap over.
I was gonna say--Realistically I could probably do it in 2 weekends without a lift but with a cherry picker and a decent trans jack. It really doesnt take long to get these cars apart once you know where everything is.
