Default Parking brake bracket

I've reinstalled and torqued to spec my complete driveline and rear suspension after my clutch and trans swap; tonight I went out to spend an hour hooking the brakes back up. It appears, however, that I've missed something VERY important: the guide I used when pulling the car apart had me unbolt the bracket for the parking brake cable from the car AFTER disassembling the rear suspension (important), whereas the GM service manual I am using for reassembly apparently just had the cable removed from the bracket and the bracket left attached to the car

When I walked out to the car, I grabbed the Ziploc bag containing my parking brake hardware and sat down on my stool, then popped the cable into the bracket and grabbed the first bolt ("hey, this is a LOT longer than I remember it being") and it won't thread at all, and the bottom one can't even line up with the hole due to the suspension components being in the way

I'm hoping I am looking at this all wrong and these are the wrong bolts (I can't even see the threads in these holes, do these bracket bolts go all the way through to the back of the rotor???); I'd like to verify before I take apart the rear suspension again (I'm going to bed now, but will try again after work tonight)

Any help is appreciated

The parts diagram shows one bolt, but I'm pretty sure there are 2. Even though the diagram shows one bolt, it lists 4 required, so My memory and PART of the parts manual says there are 2 each side.

The parts manual says the bolts are GM part # 11516356 and they are 10mmx1.5 by 70mm long. They have a reduced body which means the area between the threads and the head is a smaller diameter than the minor thread diameter. Also, I think there is a bit of a shoulder on the bolt that fits with no slop in the bracket hole.

I do remember it being a PITA to hook it all up, you have to compress the spring, thread the "eye" of the needle over the PB actuating hook and then get the bolts in. I think if I recall it was easier if I dropped the rear suspension toe-in link, but not sure if that is necessary.

While you are in there, adjust your e-brakes so you can pass inspection. The only adjustment is at the brake-shoe ring adjuster and there is no way to get at it from the outside.

Is that what you are asking?

Yep

I was hoping the 3" bolts in my bag with the brackets were put there by mistake... looks like I'm removing my UCAs and shocks again. Oh well.

Thanks!

I don't think you need to remove the upper control arm and shock mount, but I think you need to take the wheel, caliper, caliper bracket and rotor off so that the hook that actuates the e brake shoe ring is loose enough to "thread the needle". Seems like one of the bolt heads is close to or interferes with the spindle, but I haven't been in there in a while.

Yeah, one bolt can't even get into the hole with how close the spindle is to the shock mount on the LCA... I'm pretty positive I'm going to have to unbolt the UCA and shock to allow me to angle the spindle enough to get at it... and I'm too busy to do it right now
