Hello! I have a 2003 Z06 and I want to purchase the MGW short shifter. I can't find any pictures of the Flat Stick shifter in a C5. I'm debating on whether I want to get the normal MGW shifter and use a C6 style boot and **** or the flat stick version.
Does anyone have any experience with the flat stick MGW shifter in a C5? Can you use the stock boot?
I just installed a flat stick with a stock shift boot. You have to trim it a bit and use a zip tie to make it work but it looks factory when you get it done. Shoot me a text and I can get you some pictures tomorrow. I HIGHLY recommend you buy the mgw. It was the most professionally designed and packaged aftermarket product I have ever purchased.
If you want some pics/install help hit me up.

I just installed a MGW Flat Stick in my 03 Z06. I would like to know what you needed to do to get the Boot to fit using the rubber collar. Did you just cut the top off, or did you cut the glue from the folded top part of the boot. Right now I just have the collar over the stick, but I want the top of the flat stick exposed using the rubber collar. Any information would be of help.

Been awhile since I installed shifter on my C5, but I turned the boot inside out, unglued the top of the boot, trimmed about an inch off, then pushed the rubber grommet up inside the boot from the bottom.
You only need to cut the top of the boot so the hole is large enough for the shifter stick to fit through. Any excess can be rolled back inside the boot like it was originally.
You can then use an 0-ring, plastic wire tie, or piece of wire to attach the grommet to the boot.. Roll the boot back right-side out.
If you push the grommet up inside the boot so it fits tight before you strap it in, you will get a cleaner edge on the top of the boot on the top side.
The grommet I used came with a Core Shifters shifter, but looks like the MGW is similar..

Thanks, I will try to remove the glue and fit the rubber collar this weekend.

I did not actually remove the glue... I just carefully peeled back the boot where it was folded over and glued on the inside..
It looked like rubber cement, so it was still soft.
