2004 C5Z

Looks like its a ground but it doesn't go anywhere. It just dead ends right before the door.

Is that a ground lug on the rear connected to the wire you are discussing?

What is on the end of the wire by the door? Connector, cut?

Is the wire bare?

We can't help without some details since your picture looks like it was taken from a distance.

Was everything working on the car before you removed the panel?

Yes that ground lug is connected to the wire and it is just a bare, clipped end before the front door. Everything works like it should on the car.

See if this helps:

There is a ground point on the frame that you see when you take the RR tail light out. I think that wire goes there, and where it goes forward, not sure. Looks like there is another ground (This is a pic from a BC post) hand labeled 302. Maybe it goes there.

Sam, Had a great time at the track, to the dentist today and unload the trailer. No PCMCIA yet.

It's an antenna wire, should connect to the antenna mast and just runs along the length of the rear tub

The 2001 FSM does not show such a ground for any antenna style. I did not look at all the other years.

Can you tell me where you found that schematic information?

Thanks onspeed. Apparently this is only used on the convertible which uses a power antenna. Here is the schematic and I believe the wire in question to be the one that shows 1 wire becoming 4 wires that are not terminated anywhere. It shows this wire is connected to the coaxial cable, I assume the shielding. I also assume if the lug is used it is connected to the antenna case.

Still can't explain why the schematic shows a split into 4 wires. This schematic is from a 2001. I also verified that this schematic is also applicable to other years like the first convertible in 1998.
