Default Anaerobic sealer ?

I read that this sealer is recommended for the side cover gasket on the leaking differentials. Any experience using this sealer. Will it weld (glue) the cover in place or will the stuff remain pliable to allow future removals? Some of today's adhesives can really be tough. Appreciate info.

My mech says it doesn't help, but others like it.

After doing a seal replace fix, then leaking again 20k miles later they just replaced my entire diff. GM's new design looks a bit different.

I hear the prob is caused when the factory hammers the cover back on too hard and damages the o-ring area.

Any possibility of eliminating the "O" ring and making a thin rubber gasket out of gasket material and then using the sealer. Can you skip the o ring.. Doesn't seem to have a purpose any way. The sealer will be the main component here??Will the thickness (match cover thickness) have an affect on the cover and axle shaft.
