Default 99 rear view mirror wiring issues

So I recently purchased my first corvette. It appears as if the harness to the rear view mirror was cut and spliced in. I have no idea why (radar detector perhaps?) but it's left me scratching my head. All of the wires coming out of the harness in the back if the mirror are gray with no color coding at all. They are tapping into the normal harness which contains 2 black wires, a light blue wire, and purple wire. All of my fuses are good and the underwood/interior lights work so I know it's either the way the mirror is wired up or perhaps the mirror is bad. Has anyone else dealt with this problem??

I tried finding a diagram but it's causing conflict because the color coding of the wires is different from what I've been coming across.

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!!

I pulled up the 1999 schematic. You are not going to like what I say. I can post the schematic later if you want.

Total of 4 wires

Brown Wire Power

Two Orange wires

Black wire for Ground

I will post the schematic later, can't right now.

Here is the schematic. I converted from PDF to JPEG using Photoshop in order to post. If you have trouble reading this I can send you the PDF. If you have any questions let me know. Seems like you may need to find out why your wires are different. May have to follow your wires and see where they go. The previous owner did something since my 2001 is identical to this with one additional wire for another circuit you don't have.

As I noted in Post #4, actually in 2001 they have another mirror circuit for a total of 5. This is a power circuit #9 (Brown wire) for the Mirror Switch Back Light. It uses the same Ground circuit #150. This has it's own schematic separate from the above one to show the dimming circuit. As a result, in 2001 the above 1999 shown circuit #9 was renamed as circuit #341.

1999 does not have this, or I can't find it in my database. I found the similar 1999 schematic as the 2001 but it was not there. So, as far as I can determine in 1999 there are only 4 wires for the mirror.

Chuck, I'll scan and provide the separate schematic I discussed for 2001. I will also compare that to what I have for 2004. Will try to post tomorrow.

In my FSM you find that separate schematic just ahead of the one showing the 4 wires you mentioned.

PS: What is DDO? That might help me.

OK, I looked at my 2001 and 2004 FSM and both the Mirror schematic with the 4 wires and this Mirror Switch Backlight (Backlight for Switches) schematic are the same. I am sure it is in your FSM also. I did not find this in 1999 or 2000 so I think it was a change made starting in 2001.

And of course, I forgot to include the wires for the Electrochromatic style mirrors. This is only found in the Stationary Windows section of the FSM.

Since I have this option my inside rear view mirror should have 8 wires. This design is the same from 2001-2004.

To the OP, I could not find this information in my 1999 FSM so I don't know if this was an option in 1999 or not. Here is the 2001-2004 schematic. I know it shows 5 wires but the Brown and Black ones are the same as the ones in the schematic I already provided for you. The only new ones would be Light Green, Gray, and Pink.

OP, if all of this is confusing feel free to PM me and we can discuss on the phone.
