I gave you two reasons. I did not try to list every possible reason. That is what root cause failure analysis is for. In this case it could involve materials analysis. I've looked at weld slice specimens under an electron microscope in many cases as part of an investigation.
When I teach engineers or perform failure analysis in the Nuclear industry we list every possible reason for the issue and then start the investigation. Sounds like you may think there is only one possible reason for any failure.
All the best Steve, Sam
I gave a fairly brief list of why this would happen
In 1998 Barry Switzer resigned as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, just a few days after a massive ice storm blasted the Northeastern United States. About this same time Monica Lewinsky denied she was smoking the commander and chief's cigar (if you know what I mean)
Wayne Gretzky was named "best" NHL player ever (duh) The Broncos beat the Packers 31-24 in Super Bowl XXXII... Olympic figure skater Peggy Fleming underwent breast cancer surgery and you want to know WHY?
This was more of a philosophical type answer than mechanical...it was just supposed to be funny? Maybe your car doesn't like you would have been better?
I understand there are LOTS of dynamics involved in failure, diagnosis, and possible solutions. You do a GREAT job of helping with all of those things. I am a little narrow minded but not enough to think there is only one reason, or one way. Wasn't challenging your methods or qualifications.
Keep up the good work

Thanks for all your replies. I replaced the positive battery cable and I'm back in business. I agree with many of your posts about electrical issues with C5s. Unlike the other Corvettes I've owned my C5 has also had a few. If not driven on a regular basis it will drain a battery quickly so there is still a problem somewhere although many C5 owners say they experience the same problems. Without the trickle charger it will run a fully charged battery flat in a few weeks time. Thanks again.
Sorry Steve, didn't read the sports comment. I'm not a sports guy except for competitive pole dancing and women's mud wrestling.
My comment was really not for you but others reading the thread.
I've noticed you have provided a number of recent compliments on people that have provided closure to their Threads. Thanks, as we discussed too many people don't do it.

Three weeks is at the edge for a battery to discharge in the sleep mode, based on the battery health a little more or less.
If you think you have a parasitic drain start another Thread, I have a good write up on diagnosis I can post. If you do and I miss it for some reason PM me and I'll provide it.

Had an issue with parasitic draw on our 73 vette.... I installed a disconnect and was never a problem again.
I know it doesn't really fix the problem, it doesn't mean your lazy or incompetent, it's a compromise to get the issue ..... gone. I just got tired of fighting it and this was a simple solution.
