Drag Wheel/Tire Setup
Hey Guys,
I have been researching for weeks and I can not seem to find a setup I am happy with. My C5 is looking around 700RWHP. I have 19x10 ZR1 wheel on the rear and plan to keep those for around town driving. I want to get a spare set of rims and tires for when I do 1/2 mile or 1/4 mile racing. I have stock rear fenders and plan to keep it that way. The idea I have right now is to buy some Z06 Replicas on Ebay ($89 each). They are 17x10. I then plan on putting the new Mickey Thompson 305/45R17 Streets R on them. I have heard a lot of good about this new tire but I can not seem to find anything else that works. There is some 315/35R17 out there but the circum is only 25.5 inchs and my front wheel is at 26inches and I dont want to have smaller wheels in the rear. I really like Hoosier but they do not make anything in the 17" rim that will fit what I am looking for and be over 26" circum. Let me know if there is another setup you guys recommend. I don't even mind straight slicks as they will be track only. I don't mind an 18" rear rims but I figured I want the most side wall possible. The new Street Rs will be almost 28inches in circum and give me plenty of side wall on a 17inch rim. Let me know. Thank you!

Have you looked into a CCW drag pack? I personally run a drag pack for the racing at the strip. It is 16" wheels all around, but the newer ones might have 17" up front. I also have a set of 17" front wheels I use on the street with some 275 Et streed radials. I got both of my wheel setups before MT came out with the bigger Street R tires in 17"+.
