There is a sliding nylon key sensor in the ignition that sense's key insertion. Sometimes it gets stuck so when the key is removed and the car thinks the key is in the ignition when it's not. There is a TSB out on this and I had mine replaced. For a temporary fix you can insert the end of a plastic wire tie in the ignition lock, wiggle it around and the nylon slider should release.
Just share my trouble..... I have almost the same issue.... when I pull the KEY out, all works except the seat does not retract.... ( i pulled out fast, slow and left it in) I am looking for info also.... How about the dealer??

OK, this comment is begging to be made. Apparently you can get your key gummed up and that could make your iignition slider sticky. So, what you are saying is that you have to pull out slow if you have sticky fingers? :smash:
blackjack is right.........I recommend cleaning the inside of the ignition cylinder with some alcohol on a cotton swap, and then applying some dielectric grease way in the back of the cylinder. After you grease it, run another alcohol swap in part way to ensure the key-sensor contacts are clear of any grease.
seat doesn't retract, doors don't unlock, ding-ding on, etc, etc, anyone have the fix :(
Have the same problem. '97-'99 C5's and a few other GM models. It's the lock actuator. TSB says to remove, test, replace actuator and/or lock cylinder. I'm going to try the clean and grease fix first.
Check the electrical connections under the seat. I had the same problem after my dealer did the rocking seat fix. One of the connectors was a little loose.
Well, a little lubrication seemed to have fixed things. I used a white lithium grease. Really had to wiggle and jiggle the key to get the lube going.
