Default Questions, TPIS header install in progress.

I’m in the middle of installing my TPIS headers, just got the cats off and I’m about to pull off the exhaust manifolds.

Can anyone provide some useful advice on exactly what has to come off during the install? The instructions from TPIS say that you need to take off the alternator, valve covers, fuel line, and steering shaft. I remember seeing some other posts saying that all this was not necessary, but I can’t find the info now.

If you install them from the top, all of that is necessary except disconneting the fuel line. They go in pretty easy with all of that removed. If you go from the bottom on a lift, none of those things need to be removed

I know when mine were being installed, it was much easier on the passenger side by removing the starter.

Sorry for not replying earlier.....you need to take off the coil paks & valve covers, unbolt the altenator and tie it out of the way, remove oil filter, but the steering does NOT need to be removed (ask any of the members I have helped...) you need a 2x2 about 3-4 feet long and can pry up on th drivers side of the engine (carefully!) enough for it to slip right in. Use this as an opportunity to change plugs as well!

I got the passenger side in pretty easy. I did not have to remove the valve covers, just the coil packs. Thanks for the info on the drivers side, that is next.

I pretty bummed right now since I ended up snapping a header bolt.

Bummer! Can you get on it with a vise grips? If not you need to VERY carefully drill the center (DON"T SLIP!!!!) and get an extractor in it. Good luck!
