Default Tire Sizes vs. Active Handling Question

Hey all,
I know this has probably been beat to death, but I'm about to buy new tires and I figured I'd ask. I have a 2000 Z51 coupe with active handling option and I am buying new tires for my C5Z06 replica wheels. The wheels currently have stock C5Z06 size tires on them (295/35/18 in rear and 265/40/17 in front), but as many of you with Z06s know...the 265/40/17 isn't an easy size tire to find. So I've decided after some basic research to go with 275/40/17 up front with the 295/35/18 in rear. I was wondering if any of you have done this and had any active handling issues. A slightly rare far fetched question but I thought I'd ask before pulling the trigger. Thanks

Mike

Is 305/35/18s an option for the rears (with the 275/40/17 fronts)? I have that combo, and everything is fine.

The stockers are a .7" delta, which is basically the same. 25.4 fronts, 26.1 rears.

Thanks guys. I'd love to put a 305 out back but the Continental ExtremeContact DW doesn't come in that size. I thought about doing 255/40/17 in front and 285/35/17 in back but that seems odd too. Hmmm, maybe I'll just buy the sizes mentioned above and see what happens. Hopefully ABS doesn't freak out at highway speeds...

I run the setup you're asking about - 275/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear. No problems at all. Been running those for nearly 30,000 miles with no issues. Even when the rear tires were worn down more than the front, I still had no issues.
