So I am watching the Disney film “Robots” with the grand kids and the plot includes the villain Phineas T. Ratchet, who has taken over Bigweld Industries and is about to discontinue the manufacture of spare parts (IE Steering Wheel Position Sensors). Ratchet believes the company can make more profit if it stops making spare parts for older robots and focuses on selling more expensive upgrades (IE current model robots). And I thought of GM (the Phineas T. Ratchet of our world) and my aging C5 robot that will be destined for the scrap heap because I won’t buy a C7.
Haha so true
If someone works out a way to make these and the other discontinued parts on the early c5's, I bet they could make a tonne of money
I guess one other option I could try is remove all the warning lights, remove/disconnect the lcd display and wire in some custom warning lights for vital engine management.. Perhaps a custom designed guage cluster to replace the stock one.
Just throwing out some ideas on how I could get around this issue in the future. At this stage i'll obviously have to sell the car but I love it and don't want to.
Either that or there MUST be a way to convert it to a 2001+ system that has parts readily available. Even if you had to change out the whole computer systems and all the sensors...? Any ideas?
Ultimately I just need the abs system completely gone without any warning lights/annoying warnings showing up.
I mean seriously I really don't need to know when my washer fluid is low, all the stupid emissions warnings (we don't get tested for that)
