After all the debating and changing of minds...I have my list of mods Im going to do
I know I said:
3.42s, SY 3500, Cooler, programming but it has changed just a little....
Now getting
3.42s, Vigilante 2800, Cooler, Programming and Tuning, LS6 Intake Manifold, Lower temp therm., and all installed by Cartek for a price of $3100.
This is what they reccomend and I know they know what they are doing so I went with it. My prob was finding a install place here in Maryland to do the work and tune it for a good price. So I went a head and contacted Cartek and love the price. Im gonna try to get this done within a couple weeks--before end of August.
What do you guys think?
Seems good to me...Low 12s here I come!!  :yesnod:
Great choice of mods and i think you will be very happy. The Vig 2800 will hit nice and hard and be very driveable other than the fact that you will need much stickier tires to have any chance hooking on the street.
Enjoy and Cartek will take good care of you and may i add, Julio, is certainly one of the top tuners in the Great U.S. of A.
Re: K...Final decision has been made! (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
Well, I guess there are a couple reasons Bandit.
First, thats what Cartek reccomended.
Second, as i've seen...not trying to start anything!!...but most Trans breakage seems to be with Yanks.
Now I'm sure Vigilante TCs have had their probs with trans as well but from all the post I see here and some people I have talked to....Seems like most of the trans prob happen with Yank TCs.
Like I said...not tryin to start anything...just what i've seen and heard
RedCoupeBandit (sorry if have name mispelled but don't have it handy), i'm just bustin your ***** a little hear and having some fun. Please don't take my ribbing personally!:D
Goodluck to all of us crazed A4 converter and gear guys!
Re: K...Final decision has been made! (Nitrovette)
No I am pretty set on TC's. The 2 I was really between after I eliminated the ST3500 was the SY3500 and the Vig2800. The things I liked about the Vig 2800 was the higher STR, the lower stall, and the tighter feel!
I think either one is good. If I could just drive a Vig2800 I would know since I have been in a SY3500 car.
Good Luck and I knew you would chime in soon NitroVette!! :D :D :D
Re: K...Final decision has been made! (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
USMUSC, another soon to be satisfied user of a Vigilante! If I can just get some cooler weather (I know, I will have to wait until October here in N. Texas!), I know we can crack off some 12.20's. The Vigilante is the main reason, of course.
Welcome to the Vigilante Owners Group, where "Low ET" means “Vigilante"!
Re: K...Final decision has been made! (Untouchable00)
Bandit....Im sure both are awesome. And I talked to someone about using a TC...no specific one just using a TC in general and the effects it has on the Trans. He told me it is really just a handful of people it happens to. Either way just get a Tranny cooler, programming, and a good installer(dont go for the cheapest guy out there when dealing with your 40k dollar baby).
Rwhite...thanks cant wait to get these things in! 12.98 on my tric and xr1 on emts. With these new mods and my pilot sports=LOW 12s!!   :yesnod:
I appreciate it. I am tryign to get a ride in a Vig2800 just so I know for sure. There is someone with one 10 minutes away, but we will see what happens.
That will make things easy!!
I am sure the PT2800 is a great choice. I don't think you can go wrong with either one we choose. The shop here in Dallas, Speedworks told me to get the Vig2800, but they don't sell Yank anyway. He said Vig's have been very solid in terms of reliability. he has seen many more Yanks break, but that they are still great TC's, but he has seen more problems with Yanks than PI Vig's.

The Bandit....................
Exact same thing I was told. They are all awesome but I decided to take it on the safe side just incase.
Let me know if you get a ride in the Vig 2800 so I can see what I'm going to be getting.
