Default Which head casting to use?

I'm planning a 416 build and am looking at sending a set of heads to Teas to have them worked over. I'll ask them if they have a preference but wonder if one set of castings is better then another to start with. Any inputs appreciated.

Thx Rich

What's your budget?

LS3 castings and send to Chris Frank...

Or, just buy the CNC LS3 heads from SDParts and install them.

What does your engine builder suggest? What cam choice? Power goals?

Just getting started, gathering information. Power range not curtain but in the 700 range. Most likely will be FI. The build will be done in in sections as I can afford. Brakes, suspension, and other mods are done. Thx, I'll look up Chris.

700 NA? You'll want a set of heads from Chris. Maybe a single plane intake and solid roller cam as well.

Build a quality bottom end and upgrade the top as necessary - when funds allow.

Good luck with your goals.

I'm assuming to keep the car fairly street able I'll look at going with forced induction to get to the numbers I'd like. The plan is no short cuts, do the best I can and definetly killer bottom end..
Thx for your input..

If you're planning on going FI in the future, a set of out of the box CNC LS3 heads will easily allow for your goals. Flat top Pistons w/ valve reliefs from Wiesco. Get a FAST 102 intake and an LS2 throttle body.
11:1 compression. Basic hyd cam from Brian Tooley.

Bolt on a YSi or F1X and you'll be well north of 700.

You DO NOT WANT 11:1 compression if you plan on forced induction in the future !

And why not?????

Perhaps I should have added E85. Would that change your mind?

We're putting together a 12:1 with a YSi right now. It's gonna make a **** ton of power.

The point of raising compression is to increase cylinder pressure and make more power. Putting on forced induction does that for you. I did quick Google search and found guys running 12-1 with a YSi. Tuning has to be perfect, race gas a must and It's not very forgiving. I guess you can go that route but lower compression with higher boost is a lot easier to tune and the motor will last longer. Sure you can make it work but why ? There are tons of cars making over 1000hp by using lower compression high boost and the best part is the drive like stock until you hit the gas.
