I broke the wires to the oil temperature switch. The wires running into the clip are black and green. The replacement clip has two whites. The dealership parts guy din't know if there was a poistive and negative. Does anyone have an answer?

The engine oil temperature sensor (EOT) should have a black wire, which is the low reference, connected to pin "A" on the sensor.
The temperature sensor signal on the EOT should be a DK GRY/WHT wire, which goes to pin "B" on the sensor.
The black low reference wire on pin "A" should measure about +5 volts to ground.
It's a 2-terminal thermistor element so it really doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal. The PCM is just reading the resistance of the sensor.

Thanks for the information. I threw out the old clip thinking that the new clip would have the same color coding as the wires I now have dangling. There's nothing on the sensor that identifies the leads.
