Default Gas Tank Leak

Took the 2004 Convertible out of storage, drove it a 100 yards. Next morning found gas on the floor under the drivers side fuel tank. There was no gas under it when I took it out of storage. It probably was slightly leaking last year when I might have still been able to fix it under GM's extended 10 year warranty, now I have to pay the bill. Just the fuel tank alone costs $995. Just venting.

Sorry about your leaky tank... just curious does your car fall in the
VIN 45110258 to 45125500 batch of cars that are prone to this failure?

Search for the crossover issues with the 04's. There is a specific run of VIN numbers that is affected by this.

There used to be a secret warranty on this for this year also. Not sure if it is still in effect.

It cant hurt to call gm and see if they will help you out at all. The worst they can say is no. One word of advice is be very nice on the phone you must remember these people get pissed off people yelling at them all the time. they may be more likely to help out the one person that day that was really nice on the phone lol. Also if you have a good relationship with your local dealer you can go in there and see if they can contact gm on your behalf.

Repair was completed yesterday, phoned GM this morning and was advised that they would not reimburse me for any of the costs involved since the repairs where made after March 2014. I was very nice on the phone.
