I recently traded my '01 coupe for an '03 50th anniversary convertible. The only thing that didn't work on the car was the twilight sentinel. I saw that the sensor had come out of the defroster vent an was laying on the wiring harness below it. I pulled the defroster vent out (breaking some of the vanes in the process) and put it back where it belonged. It worked perfectly for 2 weeks. Then, one day the lights stayed on after I pulled out of the garage, and they haven't worked correctly ever since. I had to disable twilight sentinel in the DIC. I know there is a lot of knowledge out there. Can anyone give me an answer to this or a place to start?
Could be a number of things. First, pull your DIC codes and see what may be going on since there are a couple of codes the light sensor circuit can throw.
Already thought of that. The new sensor is not that expensive, so I already replaced it. Unbelievably, there are no fault codes showing up in the DIC at all.
May be the MF switch contact in the OFF position is not providing continuity to allow the circuit to work. That or the BCM is at issue. Could also be a wiring/connector issue.
If you want to do some do some circuit checks I can provide you with the schematics for everything.
Might try exercising the MF switch a couple dozen times to wipe the contacts and see if that helps at all.
