I am wanting to up grade my stock LS1 coil packs to the LS2 style for fitment reasons. I am wanting to install the Holley valve covers that do away with the coil bracket and allow the packs to mount directly to the cover. Only problem is they are made for a 72mm bolt spacing like the LS2/LS3/LS7 applications. The LS1 coil pack spacing is about 1/4" smaller. I have been told the LS2 packs will plug right in and work fine, but when I checked with an MSD rep, I was told their packs for the LS2 would not work due to differences in the dwell and would cause misfires. Does anyone have any experience or advice on this matter? Outside of eBay, the stock coils are a considerable amount more money than the MSD that are supposed to be better than stock. Thanks in advance

a tuner can easily change the dwell times to match that of the ls2 if needed... I'm running truck coils on my car with no issues... I believe you will need the harnesses also because the plug at the coil end is different but they will plug into your engine harness... check in the c6 fs section or ls1tech, you can get a set in good shape with harnesses for around $100

I'm running the (round) LS2 style coils w/o any issues. As stated, be sure to get the coil harnesses as well.
I wouldn't touch the MSD coils with a ten foot pole.
You may want to discard the black plastic OE conduits if you need to, but you need these to plug into the lS2 coils. The big connector is the same as you already have on YOUR wire harness as neutron82 said, so you're good on that end. The AC Delco part number is D357A or the GM part number is 12579355.

Thanks for the info! And yes the description says they are take offs from a brand new motor.
Does anyone know if there will be a dwell issue running these?
