The gauge is maxed out and the DIC reads 129psi. Is this what happens when it fails or would it read 0 psi?
I already have a relocation setup for when I do heads/cam/intake....
If this is the common failure, then looks like I will do the Headers and intake now so I can get a new sensor and use the relocation setup I have.
Just want to make sure they read high when they crap out vs reading nothing.
Well, a quick search answered my question. Think I will go with a lifetime warranty model from a local auto parts store being how it will be relocated and easy to swap if it fails again.
Yeah, have been waiting for this one!! Car is a 97' with 69K miles. Planned to relocate the sensor when I did my heads/cam/intake.... I was gonna toss the headers on first and do the rest later. Looks like I will go ahead and do the headers and intake now since I need to relocate the sensor. The ported TB may as well go on too. Heads/cam/clutch/torque tube will have to wait for some vacation time.
I have changed my sender 6 times in the 10 years of owning my 99 FRC
Some go bad right away lol and sometimes spike when hitting the rev limiter. Mine is working now.
I was thinking of screwing a steel braided pressure hose into the sender side, cut the plug and lengthen the wires and screw the sender into the braided line. This is if this one goes bad again. Good luck

I will be curious to see how long mine lasts, also if relocating it stops the failure or slows it down ??? After spending a lot of time on this forum I decided to re-locate mine when I changed intakes. The way I mounted mine gives me an easy look to see leakage or to change if fails !!!!!! I bought mine at Advance Auto and has the brass lower housing.

Yup. Just like that. Great idea. If mine goes again Im doing this
Didn't get as many replies as I'd hoped for when I did the thread on the relocation... but, I don't think there was ONE single person that had done the RELOCATE that had a failure...
Sorry I got the sending unit from Summit not Advance Auto !!!!! Also I used a post from here for the parts but I modified it for my purpose. I used a 90 degree fitting from the original sending unit spot because I wanted mine (the hose) to go under the other stuff on the firewall. I also used the fitting from Amazon to just use one fitting. (the sender fits in this fitting) This setup cost me about 80 dollars but I used less fittings which I figured less chance to leak. (to me a nice neat install)
Amazon 14.33
Summit 17.97
Summit 37.97
Summit 6.75
If you deduct the sending unit (you have to buy anyway) this will cost about 42.00

That's been my observation over the years on this issue too. If there ARE failures eventually, at least it apparently greatly reduces them.
I was using the braided-line version for a few years, but kept an eye out for a TPE unit someone was selling. I finally got hold of one, and just recently (about 2 months ago) mounted it up. Slick setup. It's the way the factory should have done to been with.
