Stupid Question but...
what turns on the dash lights, is the operation of turning the headlights on?
so if the dash lights are powered on this pin, they'll always be on?
A3 WHT 103 Headlamp Switch Headlamps On Signal Indicates to IPC the Headlight status 12V = Headlight On
0V = Headlight Off

I assume by dash lights you mean the 2 UV bulbs that light up the IPC gauges?
Also, I have no idea about where you are getting your reference info so I can look at what you are trying to discuss. Don't know if 103 is the connector or the wiring circuit number.

i was just referencing the 34 pins that connect the cluster
yes, the instrument panel cluster, the bulbs that light up the #'s
what operation tells those bulbs to turn on
i was assuming they turn on when the headlights turn on
which is the A3 pin, that tells the unit, hey the headlights are on, thus the IPC turns on
but i'm guessing im wrong as i put 12v to it and it didn't turn on the IPC bulbs (unless the bulbs are out)
i'm working on a cluster outside of the car (it has 12v to ignition/battery and the 2 grounds and yes it turns on =D)
