Recently acquired 1st Vette. No issues after starting and driving any amount of miles but when break in coming off freeway message to service ABS and service Traction Control appears and stays on til keys turned off.
Mechanic said needs a new ABS Module. Dealer has in stock for over$1100.
Thoughts????
I'll put money on the table they don't have a module and were just quoting a price to determine interest level. They probably figured they could send it out for repair. I only know of one place that "says" they can work on 2000. Of course, based on what is wrong no one can fix all year issues.

Had this a few times - disconnected sensor at the wheels - cleaned the connector - reconnected - all OK
If you are getting the c1214 code when you pull them, you will need a new EBCM. Personally I would take out the old one and send it to ABSfixer.com but to each their own. Dealership is always my last option because of the labor charge more than the price of parts (but even then the parts are way over priced.
My local Chevrolet dealer wanted to charge me 50 dollars just to program a FOB on top of a hefty price tag for a replacement FOB (they wanted something around $90 for a new FOB). I got one off of Ebay for 20 bucks and synced it myself. Saved me a lot of money.

Try this before spending $$. This was advised by another board member awhile back & it worked for me. Take car out to an empty lot preferably when ground is wet. Do some heavy abs braking about 10 times or so & also do some hard turns to start the car drifting to set off the DTC's. This cured my abs/traction control issues. Don't get codes anymore & all works as it should. It seems if these functions aren't used every so often they can cause problems like yours. I know it sounds weird but it may cure the problem. Just be careful & stay safe.

Unless there is a problem with the wiring or connections the ebcm and probably the bpmv are toast. You will have to separate the the ebcm from the bpmv to do further tests to determine which one has failed or if both have failed.
