Default Need help with antenna.. pic*

So I was trying to remove my antenna back during the winter to make my car cover fit better. It was on extremely tight, my suspiscion is that whoever installed this aftermarket antenna used some sort of glue or silicon when they screwed it on. As you can see in the pic this is what I ended up with because I used a pair of pliars to try and loosen it :/ . Its on there tight and I never could get it off. Should I try to file the metal down smoothe and paint it or just replace everything? If i replace can someone give me a suggestion on what to get? Also the discoloration in the black is where I sprayed plastidip on there to see if that would help cover it up. Thanks fellas

So, if you never could get the nut off, how would you replace everything now?

Saw it off and drill it out. Put towels around it in case the drill gets out of hand.

You might try a length of heat shrink tube. They come in many colors. Not the prettiest, but could be a low-budget approach.
If it were me I would just buy a replacement antenna.
(That is really ugly. No offense meant.)

Just get a new one before more damage is done.

Thats what I want to do, is get a new one. My question is how do I take the old one off? Do I go in from the trunk and take the whole assembly out or what? Because you cant unscrew the antenna, Ive tried several times.

You can't take it out from underneath if you can't get the nut off. I already gave you the only suggestion out of the whole Thread on how to resolve your issue.

And I appreciate your input, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anymore options other than cutting and drilling because I would really like to try and avoid doing that. Guess thats my only option...

Requires sacrificial removal (i.e. it's already toast),
medium pipe-wrench or big channel-locks ... it WILL come off;
or cut the nut as previously suggested.
Be sure to protect the surrounding finish.

I wouldn't try to "fix" any of it; I would replace everything.
