Default PCM Code 1571 - ASR Desired Torque

Does anyone know what this means? Is the engine not making the torque it should or is it exceeding the expected torque?

Silver 97 w/ Vortex ram air, power duct, GMAF.

This is a signal from the Electronic Brake and Traction Control module, which will change if a Traction Control event occurs, to ask for reduced torque from the engine. The code being set means that the Power Control Module did not recieve this signal for 3 seconds.

Thanks. Any idea if this is set by turning on or off the traction control?

Just turning the Traction Control on or off wouldn't set the code. I wouldn't think you'd ever see the code if the Traction Control was off, however.
